Chamber of Commerce Committees

Chamber members are invited to serve on Chamber committees.  Your help and expertise are appreciated and involvement provides opportunities for networking, recognition, and leadership.

 LIST OF CHAMBER COMMITTEES

  • Membership Committee -Recommend and implement plans for retaining and attracting members.
  • Marketing and Public Relations Committee - With Chamber staff, develop and implement ideas to promote the Chamber to its members, the business community, and the community in general.
  • Board Development Committee (This is the one committee that must be elected by the Board based a recommendation from the Chairman of the Chamber) - At least 60 days prior to the Annual Meeting of the Active membership, the Committee shall submit to the membership a written notice that invites each member to promptly submit to the Committee the names of those persons whom the member recommends for an open seat on the Board or for an officer position, or both.
  • Finance Committee - Meet between the reorganization meeting of the Board and the beginning of the fiscal year to prepare the annual budget and to make recommendations regarding financial operations of the Chamber including revenue, expenses, and investments, seeking input from Committees, officers, and staff of the Chamber. The budget shall be recommended to the Board for review and approval prior to the beginning of the new fiscal year if possible but no later than the first meeting of the Board in the fiscal year.
  • Education & Programs Committee - Committee is responsible for the selection and confirmation of all luncheon meeting speakers / educational programs.
  • Government and Community Relations Committee - Committee to report regularly to the Board on issues relative to the City of Bridgeton and the surrounding communities. Committee will make recommendations to the Board as to the appropriate stand the Chamber should take on issues should they require public statement and communication with officials. Committee to keep Chamber informed on all community events and to determine ways the Chamber can be involved with and participate in the community, particularly related to economic and community development.
  • By-laws Committee -  The Board shall appoint a special committee to review these Restated Bylaws at least once every three years and such committee may make any proposals for amendments that it deems advisable
  • Business and Community Heroes Awards Committee - Make all necessary arrangements with the country club relative to the menu, pricing, etc. and entertainment for the annual dinner. Seek and review nominations from the Chamber and community and make decisions on recipients in various categories of awards no later than July 31st.
  • Strategic Planning Committee - To provide for periodic review of the Strategic Plan as required in the Strategic Plan that was approved by the Board. Report findings and recommendations to the Board.
  • Personnel Committee - Develop and recommend to the board of director’s personal guidelines, review annual performance appraisals of employees, make recommendations regarding employee compensation, and provide other guidance as needed regarding personnel. Generally this is the officers of the Chamber.
  • Fundraising Committee -With consultation with the Finance Committee, develop a fundraising goal and budget and to develop and carry out fundraisers such as the annual golf tournament to support the operations of the Chamber and its mission.
  • Golf Tournament Committee - Plan, present and manage the Chamber’s largest fundraiser, including budgeting, site selection, seek sponsorships, and promote the tournament.
  • Scholarship Committee - Oversees criteria, applications, selection, notification and awarding of Chamber Foundation Scholarships.
  • Business Expo Committee - Plans, markets, and implements the business expo including coordination with other partners such as other Chambers and organizations.
  • BACC / CDC Marketing Project Committee - Oversees the joint economic development marketing project of CDC and Chamber.
  • Bridgeton Business Alliance Committee -Coordinate activities, programs, events, marketing to attract and integrate business owners, managers, and employees of Hispanic, and other businesses downtown Bridgeton and other community businesses into the Chamber of Commerce and the community in general.
  • Love Where You Live Committee - Collaborating with large benefactors to develop this program, promoting it, and seeking additional support for it. Its goal is to be a transformative force, to elevate and amplify the good that is already being done in the county.
